In 1967, Katherine Switzer ran the Boston Marathon despite the fact that a race official Jock Semple forcibly tried to remove her from the race. She went on to finish that race and led a movement to ensure that women could participate in races as well as being a leader in getting the women's marathon into the Olympic Games.
At 73, she proves that age is just a number as she continues to run marathons and works to change the world. She is an inspiration to women everywhere and you can read her story in her memoir Marathon Woman.
