Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure accomplished this consequence-free time travel with just a phone booth, and it scored big at the box office, with one sequel in 1991, two television spin-offs (one live-action and one animated) and a third film, Bill & Ted Face the Music, in the works for summer 2020 release.
