Set against the backdrop of Los Angeles in the 1930s, this neo-noir mystery explores wealth, power, and water in a city that is always thirsty for more of all three. Starring Jack Nicholson as private detective J.J. "Jake" Gittes, the film also features Faye Dunaway, John Huston, and Diane Ladd. Nominated for 11 Academy Awards, it won Best Screenplay and is widely considered one of the best films ever made, with the The Guardian naming it Number One in 2010.
