This week we are studying “Come and Partake of the Fruit” 1 Nephi 6–10. Welcome to the Come Follow Me Podcast for Kids! We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and we create this podcast for primary aged children (2-12) following along with the church’s Come Follow Me Manual. This is a Book of Mormon Come Follow Me Study podcast for children. If your children would like to be guests on our podcast email us at [email protected] and we will send you an assignment for a future week. Children will learn all about how Ishmael and his family agreed to go into the wilderness and join Lehi’s family on their journey to the promised land.

Well sadly, a few days into their journey, Laman and Lemuel, and two of the daughters of Ishmael, and the two sons of Ishmael and their families, decided they didn’t want to go into the wilderness anymore. It says they started to rebel against Nephi, and Sam, and Ishmael, and his wife, and his three other daughters. f Nephi can immediately forgive his brothers for wanting to leave him in the wilderness to be eaten by wild beasts, we should be able to immediately forgive our siblings when they do something that hurts us. Let’s be like Nephi because he’s awesome! Remember will be blessed when we “frankly forgive” each other.

We also learn all about Lehi’s vision of the tree of life. How the rod of iron represents the word of god. How the tree of life represents Gods love for us. How the mist of darkness represent temptation. And how the great and spacious building represents the pride of the world. Holding fast to the word of God leads me to Him and helps me feel His love.

Your children might enjoy drawing a picture of Lehi’s vision as you read 1 Nephi 8 together. Let them share their pictures, and help them discover what the symbols in the dream represent (see 1 Nephi 11:21–22; 12:16–18; 15:23–33, 36 and this week’s activity page). Ask them to share as many answers as they can to this question: What do we learn from Lehi’s vision?
