The life that has been renewed through the work of Jesus Christ should echo a different sound than a life that is built and shaped by the world. For believers in Jesus, the meditations of our hearts and the thoughts that engage our mind each day should be evidence of the presence and the work of the Holy Spirit. In Luke 6:37-49, Jesus uses the example of judging others to help us understand the difference in a heart that is built on the things of God versus the ways and patterns of the world. Looking at the experience and wisdom of the author of Psalm 119 and 1 Peter, we are able to open up the deeper meaning of Jesus' teaching to help us realize that the fruit of our life is direct evidence of the things being cultivated in our hearts. As Christians, we are not called to right and wrong and judging the world based off our limited understanding of a person, but we are called to reflect Christ, to stand on God's truth for our own lives, and quick to show grace to others so that they might come to experience the grace and salvation that has brought about the change in our own lives.
