In the first four commands, God lays out His requirements for the proper relationship with Him. They are absolute and final. There is to be no variation from His righteous demands. Our allegiance is to be only to Him and not to anything that He has created or anything that man or spirit has devised. In the next three commands, God shows us what our relationships are to be to each other. We are to honor our parents, not murder or commit adultery. Not only are these commands to be obeyed in action but also from the heart. The penalty for violating these commands is death, eternal separation from God forever. Now, let’s see what the last three commands are that God wants us to know about.
