Mat Forastiere is humble, hungry, and brilliant. He is a fourth-generation funeral director. Today, he is the vice president of all operations for Park Lawn Corporation, a funeral and cemetery operations and sales organization. Mat oversees more than 220 locations throughout the United States and Canada.
Mat started working at his family-owned funeral business in grade school growing up in Springfield, Massachusetts. He honed his customer service skills in the hotel and restaurant industry -- which he discusses those lessons in-depth -- before actually coming back into the funeral profession full-time in 1999.
Because of his work background, he has some great lessons about the role of compassion and empathy in the customer experience, which translates into higher production and sales.
Throughout his entire career, Mat has held leadership positions ranging from single and multi-location management, regional management to executive leadership.
