The earthquake in Syria and Turkey is restating for those involved, catastrophic and life altering.  Something we never wish to happen, but at times beyond our control.  There are many lessons for preparedness from what we have seen, from the reality that political stability matters in international response, to planning, the nature of chaos, limited and exhausted state capacity, community, evacuation and financial implications.
