One of the biggest lessons which God want His children to learn when they are in a very difficult place in life is trusting Him. The word trust means to completely throw oneself at the mercy of another. In the case of a Christian, it is a complete reliance on God to give the grace to help in times of need.
The human hearts find it difficult to trust. Trusting requires staking your all on someone else in a particular situation. Trust involves risk. Some people who have had bad experiences of break of trust find it more difficult to trust because of the hurt of the past. God is not like men, he has ever been faithful and ever trustworthy.
It is easier to trust in man than in God. It’s obvious that men are trusted based on their integrity and track record. But even such can fail and disappoint. The Bible says that it is better to trust in the Lord than to trust in man or put your confidence in princes (Psalms 118:8-9). Even when you have great people in your life, God still wants you to trust Him.
The Bible also says that men do not only trust in their fellow men but the weapons of the flesh. Some trust in chariots and horses but were disappointed because the arms of flesh will always fail. Only those who trust in the Lord will rise and stand firm (Psalms 20:7-8).
