This week, we talk about how Jesus gives us all power & authority, and because He lives in us, we have access to the Holy Spirit without measure. (John 3:34; Luke 10:19; 2 Peter 1:3) But, why don’t we see Christians everywhere bringing many to salvation, healing thousands, & raising the dead in hospitals & morgues? It’s really like being given a gym membership. As soon as I have that membership, I have access to all the weights and machines in the gym…but what’s actually required of us to make progress?
Does it mean I can now LIFT all that weight? And how does that apply to my relationship with the Holy Spirit and doing the “greater works” Jesus talks about? (John 14:12)Listen to the audio for more!
The Takeaway: Personal Application
What parts of your character is Holy Spirit building, so you can carry more of His glory and actually, possibly, do the greater works that Jesus promised? What parts of yourself (and your heart) are you giving over to Him to build and grow? And what steps are you taking to allow Holy Spirit to strengthen those areas?
“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5 ESV
