One thing that uniquely positions a coach to be of great service to their clients is an unexpected combination of characteristics that make them what I sometimes call The Familiar Stranger. Though close relationships - friends and family - may know you incredibly well, it is often difficult to open up in the ways you need most to someone so near and dear to you. What a coach can provide is the empathy and connection of a loved one with the distance and safety of someone you barely know…not to mention the lack of “baggage” that might come with the history of a longstanding relationship. :)
