We like control. I (Rev. Tiger) live with two young children whose favorite toy is the one his brother is playing with. They may not have thought about that toy for two months, but if his brother picks it up, then suddenly that toy is special. "It's mine," they say. That attitude continues in adulthood. I spend my money to get my things for my reasons. I like "mine," I think, because I have control of "mine." Our scripture this morning is found in Jeremiah 18, and it talks about the fact that we are the clay, and God is the potter. This is the truth. No matter what we think or feel, we are not in control.
