While we’re talking about practicing as believers, we should note that our culture gives us regular opportunities to practice what isn’t core to following Jesus. For example, we are constantly barraged with opportunities to envy what someone else has. Desire is seen as a good and healthy driver to decision making. So why wouldn’t a company selling something try to fan the flame of “I want that” to get us to hand over our money so we can get it? But did you know that this is something that disables and quenches love? We’re going to look today at the phrase ‘love does not envy’ and consider what we need to do so we can practice eliminating envy from our lives. Only then can we be people who reflect Jesus by loving others well.
