Take time to fast.
According to the Bible, there are three duties of every Christian: give, pray and fast. Biblical fasting takes a lot of discipline and strength—strength which you can only receive from God. Your private discipline will bring you rewards in Heaven, says Matthew 6. When you give God your first through fasting, prayer and giving at the beginning of the year, you set the course for the entire year.
LET ME TELL YOU WHO I AM:
Week 3 of the "Let Me Tell You Series." Joe talks about Romans 12:4-8, "For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully."
We all have different gifts that are to be used for the "body" or Kingdom of God. It is important to understand your gifts to see where you can make the most impact. While your gifting may not be forever, you should aspire to grow with God in your unique talents, gifts, and callings.
