Even if you're miles from the coast, the ripple effects of a hurricane – think power outages and floods – can hit hard. So, we're going into the trenches of emergency preparedness, ensuring that when Mother Nature does her worst, your four-legged family members are riding out the storm, safe and sound.

Our conversation leads us through the critical steps of emergency planning: up-to-date vaccination records, microchip details, and that all-important sturdy crate. But it's not all logistics; we've also sprinkled in some creative tips for water storage and the all-too-necessary manual can opener for those pet food cans. She spent over 10 years in private practice and shelter medicine.  She started making pet hospice house calls in 2011 and found them to be the most fulfilling part of her practice. She is one of the first Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarians in the world, and the first to practice in the state of Florida. DocB is a Dachshund fanatic who enjoys reading, cycling, canoeing, and quilting.
