To the Table

Let's Be Honest

Listen Later

Welcome back To the Table. We’ve mentioned Hebrews 10:23-25 several times now – it could probably be our theme verse for the podcast at this point. But, for a moment, sit in what Paul is encouraging believers to do: “consider how to stir up one another to love and good deeds”, “not neglecting to meet together”, “encouraging one another”. It is hard to truly live out the call in these verses, without sharing life with others – not just the really put together things in life, but the not so put together pieces too. In this conversation, we’re talking about what it looks like to be honest in community, surrounding yourself with women in different seasons, so that we all walk together, leaning on each other and encouraging each other along.

Show Notes🗒️

Hebrews 10:23-25 – Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Psalm 34:13 – Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.

James 3:7-8 – For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

Titus 2:3-5 – Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not

slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 – But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Ephesians 4:14-16 – so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
