Let's Be Real - Mama Journeys - Episode 119 W/Kimberly Vines

Listen Later

Kimberly Vines lives in North Carolina with her three littles (just moved there 2 weeks ago) and is excited to start their new adventure on the east coast. She and her husband lived in an RV for a few years to climb rocks and travel around Colorado. She loves trying new recipes and exploring the outdoors. She was 30 with her first baby and although they were living it up and rock climbing and being nomads, they decided it was time to get serious about starting a family. She was doing the best she could holding onto a full time job while parenting a new baby full time and things worked out during COVID to regroup and started to find herself again. She found mom friends and then realized she wasn't living her "truth." She is doing what she can to extend herself to others and make sure she is connecting with other moms. Parenting is like doing improv every single day. WIth three kids you have to let go of the structure 100% of the time because helicopter parenting is not the answer either. As a first time mom, her sister-in-law was three months ahead of her in pregnancy and she was her biggest supporter. Peer moms are so important to the mamahood journey. Watching her baby wake up smiling from ear to ear makes her day every morning and the pride she has in her oldest daughter and her drive to be who she is makes her proud. Her worst mama moment came when she left her 3 year old son at the park when he wandered off. Who hasn't had that fear in the pit of their stomach? The identity switch you go through is a huge part of being a mom and she wishes she would have known that reaching out to other mamas is essential to your mental health. Take care of each other.
