Jean Alfieri is an author, speaker and a dog fan. She is in Colorado Springs and works with Pikes Peak Animal. She is a step-mom of a little boy and he was the "best part of th deal" when she married her husband. She learns so much from her adult step-son and believes that we can learn so much from our kiddos if we are open to hearing it. She wrote a book about how to handle the loss of a pet. She was visiting a 2nd grade class and a little boy asked if she ever had a dog that died. That started the 2nd grade therapy group and the idea of writing her book about the loss of a pet. Her book is an idea and project guide with examples of how to process grief in a healthy way that are available for all ages on how to process the loss of a pet. When your family pet dies, sometimes you just don't know how to process that because pets are animals but still a part of the family. Her book is an adult guide to help themselves and children process the experience. Jean and her husband like to adopt senior dogs who are harder to place because they aren't going to be around much longer and they deserve a second chance. While writing her book, she became a grief coach specifically for pet loss and she loves helping people explore how they can heal. She has some great tips and tricks in her book. https://www.amazon.com/Ways-Weather-Loss-Your-Pet/dp/B0F3N9TMVX, Say the things to people who have lost a pet…it's healing to say, "I'm sorry for your loss."
