Let's Build Alliances With Mama

Listen Later

Join Eloise, Paula, and - all the way from Berlin - very special guest Emily, for a Pride Month-themed episode all about changing understandings of queerness throughout generations, questions of belonging, and the importance of curiosity for allyship. Eloise's mum tells us about the Gay-Straight-Alliance at her Salt Lake City high school in the 1980s and how its right to exist turned into a case that went all the way to the Supreme Court (!); and we discuss queerness as a way of looking at the world and moving through space. Digressions include the hallowed halls of East High, the beauty of starting a sentence with 'because', and whose responsibility it should be to teach men how to use a public bathroom in a respectable manner.
