23 years ago today, the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta kicked off, and they were...weird (hey, we're just living up to the name of our podcast). From constant product placements, single-use stadiums, and events being held by carvings of losers and racists from the Civil War. Oh, and did we mention the weird mascot, Izzy? Some of these may seem normal now, but the Atlanta Olympics started a new trend for the Olympic Games, with some of those starting to be scaled back.
