Sometimes, moving forward means stopping long enough to question everything.
In this episode of Let’s Take a Moment, I reflect on what I call a “Wholesale Life Review”: an honest look at the habits, commitments and expectations that were no longer serving me.
I talk about the things I have eliminated from my life, the changes I have made, and what happens when you stop accepting parts of your life simply because they have become familiar.
This is not a story about having everything figured out. It is about creating space, making conscious choices and recognising that change often begins with deciding what you are no longer willing to carry.
If you have ever felt the need to reassess where you are, how you spend your time and what you want next, this episode may resonate with you.
And if you enjoy it, please give me a follow.
I learned that a former teacher of mine has passed at the age of 90. Primary school is an impressionable age for any young person, and the teacher definitely had an impact. Here are my reflections on the news.

In this episode we discuss whether the world is getting worse? I often watch BBC Archive of documentaries from 40-50 years ago, and the world was very different, perhaps better. I discuss both the for and against and consider how we deal with the modern AI, smart-phone, Amazon-dominated world.

Between January 2004 and May 2005, I worked for Coral Eurobet as a Deputy Manager in one of their shops in Lincoln. I had a tough time, it wasn't a good fit. In this episode I tell the story, without naming and shaming, and I reflect on the time I spent there over 20 years on.
In this episode I share some good news, and what I think of it, and some wider reflections on how I move forward from here.
In this episode of Let’s Take a Moment, we explore a question that cuts deeper than it first appears: what if money wasn’t the thing driving your decisions?
This isn’t about fantasy wealth or winning the lottery. It’s about something far more real and uncomfortable, how much of what we do, choose, and tolerate is shaped purely by what makes financial sense.
What would change if it wasn’t? Would you stay in the same job? Make the same compromises? Hold back the same ideas? Live in the same way?
This episode challenges the quiet assumption that “financially sensible” is always the right answer. It looks at the tension between security and fulfilment, logic and instinct, survival and intention — and asks whether we’ve allowed money to take too central a role in defining what a good life looks like.
Not reckless. Not naive. Just honest.
Take a moment to consider: if money wasn’t the deciding factor… what would you actually choose?
In this episode I outline the motivations behind plans for a new vlog series on my YouTube channel, Northeastvlogger. It relates to my need to get my health in order and also my wish to find something immersive I can do with my time, when I (finally) get my driving license back.
We live in a world of instant messaging, yet many of us still struggle to reach out to friends we've often not spoken to in years!
In this episode, I explore why, despite WhatsApp and social media making contact easier than ever (and free, remember when we used phone bills as the reason we couldn't call?), friendships can still drift. I discuss the psychology behind hesitation, modern communication habits, and whether we need to make the effort, even when the other side doesn't. #LTAM
In this first episode of 2026 I describe how I've needed to be resilient in the first part of the New Year. I hope you enjoy the podcast and subscribe if you haven't already! #LTAM
In this episode I share my experience of moving on from my voluntary involvement with a local amateur football club and also what my work situation looks like for the coming year.
