Let’s Talk About FAIRNESS — When Life Doesn’t Feel Fair

Listen Later

You followed the rules.
 You worked hard.
You stayed kind, showed up early, and gave your best.

And still… something felt unfair.

In this episode of Stress Smarts with Colonel Deb, Doug and I talk honestly about fairness—not as a slogan, but as a lived experience. From West Point to leadership decisions, from everyday frustrations to deeply painful injustices, we explore what to do when life doesn’t cooperate.

This episode introduces my F.A.I.R. framework, a practical way to respond to unfairness without becoming bitter, reactive, or stuck:

F — Face Facts Without Flinching
Be honest about what happened—no sugarcoating, no minimizing.

A — Adjust Your Aim
Redirect your energy toward your values, goals, and future—not resentment or revenge.

I — Introduce Infinite-Win
Look beyond short-term outcomes to choices that benefit others and create lasting impact.

R — Respond Instead of React
Pause, breathe, and choose your next move with wisdom rather than impulse.

Fairness may not show up when you want it to—but strength, clarity, and leadership always can.
