I'm joined this week by Samiya and her husband Ja'Cory as we take some time to talk about the Black Lives Matter movement and taking the first small steps to starting a conversation addressing anti-black racism in South Asian culture. Samiya breaks down bringing home a partner who is black, while Ja'Cory shares his own experiences while sharing resources on how we can all be allies. We touch on colourism, the casual use of the N word among South Asian's, and how we can talk to our families about a topic many of our parent's don't want to discuss.
