Let's talk Citizen Science and the Monarch migration!

Listen Later

Hey everybody! We're back with Episode 2: Let's talk Citizen Science and the Monarch migration! In this episode, you will learn about citizen science projects in general, why they're important, and how easy it is for you to get involved and contribute to real science in your community. We focus on Monarch Watch and the monarch migration, which typically occurs in early October each year. Hear how we catch butterflies, collect data, then feed them and send them on their way to Mexico. Be sure to view photos and clips of our Monarch tagging project on our Facebook/Instagram/Twitter pages - the links below will take you there. And while you're at it, be sure to like/follow/subscribe to keep up with Monarch tagging this year!

We also discuss the Plains Bridges to Baccalaureate program, an NIH grant that helps minority students gain valuable undergraduate research and learn how to be scientists - they're accepting applications through October 16th, so be sure to apply if you qualify for this awesome program!
