Hello friends! This is a topic I'm not unfamiliar with by any means, but tend to deviate from talking about- the topic on codependency. By definition, codependency is when a person is mentally, emotionally, physically and/or spiritually reliant on another. It's a dysfunctional relationship dynamic that some may even refer to as "relationship addiction". If you think about it, all of us since birth are heavily codependent to our caregivers because otherwise how else would we survive our infant stages? But the way it's brought into this world, codependency is suppose to naturally evolve into us ultimately depending on ourselves overtime-meaning anything we can't get from others, whether it be love, work, validation, accountability, a boost of self esteem etc, we must be able to give to ourselves. Now don't get me wrong-humans wouldn't be able to thrive longterm without the help of others, and it speaks true when they say "we thrive & survive in packs". Nor am I proposing that we should isolate ourselves from the world, but I think codependency becomes an impediment in our lives when we feel like we can't function, or even survive to some extremes, without the validation, recognition, love, and/or help from others. These are my thoughts. Enjoy!
