Deb Donner grew up in The Wesleyan Community, a cult-church led by Lou Hillendahl and spent much of that time living in tents without electricity or running water. That’s only part of her incredible story of survival.

In this first half of a two-part interview, Deb speaks candidly & unapologetically with Jemima and Whisper of her life both in and after the cult, and her journey of healing and recovery.

“I don't apologize for speaking the truth and telling the things that happened to me and making people  uncomfortable because I think people should be uncomfortable. I think people should be so f*cking uncomfortable that they get up and do something to help.”
