•Dr. Kathryn Baker Kemp servesas an associate minister at  Memorial M.B. Church in Chicago working in Christian education, music and prison ministry.  She served on the faculty of the Gospel Music Workshop of America 16 years. Kathryn is currently active with the faculty of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses and Pastoral Advisory Council.•Her second book, “Anointed To Sing The Gospel: The Levitical Legacy of Thomas A. Dorsey” 2015, was awarded a prize inthe African American category at the 2016 Indie Next Gen Awards. It also won a 2024 International Impact Award. Her first book - “Make A Joyful Noise: A Brief History of Gospel Music Ministry in America” 2011- shared our gospel roots fromenslavement to the 20th century.•Dr. Kemp is currently working on a documentary about faith, tragedy, and God’s grace through the sung gospel aboutThomas Dorsey and Make A Joyful Noise which will premiere April 25, 2026, at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Chicago.
