Let's Walk and Talk - Episode 3

During the creation of his book, there were many drafts. I listened to

what Cuba wanted to say and wrote it all down. Initially, the book

included many stories and discussions, then it was shortened a few

times to finally contain just what he and the pets really wanted to get

across. I also felt a sense of urgency in Cuba to “just get it done” and

get it published.

In the meantime, the pets who had already passed over into the light

worlds also wanted to write a book. This book was about helping their

folks come to terms with the loss of their beloved pet. We called it

“Always Here” as they wanted to stress that in truth, they will always

stay with their family, and that they wanted to share ways to keep in

touch with them. (“Always Here – When your Pet has passed away”)

Cuba decided that one chapter in his book would also include a

chapter from “Always Here” as he wanted to give his people an all-

round idea of the existence and experience of pets in this world. We

finally finished the book and Cuba chose the title “We are Family !”

because this is the sentiment he wanted to get across: We are all

Family – animals, people and all of nature. “All my relations” as First

Nations people call our connection to all of Nature. On the cover of

the book is a photo of Cuba that I took – and when I look into his eyes

in the photo, I see the soul that he is – wise, loving, caring,

independent, funny – a real friend. We got the book ready in time to

give to his folks for Christmas or New Year. Cuba called me especially

to make sure that his family receive it at that time. (“We are Family –

What your Pets really want you to know about them”)

There are many more lessons Cuba taught me. I noticed how on our

walks he seemed to be a bundle of love and sharing this with

everybody who came along and that in comparison I was more

contained. I asked him about his “trick” – how to walk in a crowd of

people without being affected by the energies around. He said to first

have a ball of energy around the heart and then place an imaginary

sphere of light all around the body and that once the sphere is in place,

it was possible to shine out as much love and joy as I wanted from the

heart without losing my energy. I could feel how this exercise opened

my heart and how I was able to be with people, shine my light and also

keep my energy going. Thank you, Cuba !

For quite some time, when we went on our walks, I never heard Cuba

bark. When I heard him bark for the first time though, he sounded like

a big dog, maybe like an Alsatian. As I mentioned earlier, when we

walked together, he felt like a tall man, walking beside me. So maybe

it’s surprising to hear that Cuba is actually a Havanese, a relatively

small dog – but with a big personality ! 😊

When you look into his eyes you can also see his big soul, full of love.

I am so proud and grateful to know this amazing being who kept me

going in difficult times and made me happy again with his humour and

joy. I hope that I have been able to share my experiences with Cuba in

a way that you can also meet him. He says that he invites everybody

to talk with him – wherever you are. May he be as good a friend to

you as he has been to me. As a friend of mine said when he heard me

talk about Cuba and our friendship:

“Everybody should have a Cuba by their side !”

Cuba showed me that there are no limits as to what can be discussed

with the animals – they love to talk about animals and their situation,

but they also engage in conversations about our projects, problems,

interests, love and life in general. He also wanted to stress how much

animals love us, that they really feel what we feel and understand

what we say and think and that they would like to be treated as equals.

Animal Communication also helps me to talk with myself and others

in a kinder way and to be understanding and more patient with everybody.
