In Paul's letter to the slave owner Philemon, he asks him to do something that is outside of any cultural norm at the time. He asks him to do the unthinkable. Rather than kill a slave who disobeyed, Paul asks Philemon to see this slave as a brother. Because in Christ, we are all equal.
