Chapter 1:
-Are you okay with a life insurance company knowing *everything* about your personal health? American life insurance company John Hancock, owned by Canadian firm Manulife Financial corp., announced last week it’s taking the unusual step of rewarding customers with discounts or perks for logging their activity using a fitness tracker.
Chapter 2:
-The NDP’s rental housing taskforce has announced two recommendations it hopes will ease the financial pressure on tenants in BC. One is capping allowable rent increases in 2019 to 2.5% CPI, instead of the enormous 4.5% announced earlier this month.
Chapter 3:
-Canada has long-depended on looking south to boost its international trade and strengthen its influence in the world. But perhaps there’s a better option to the east… could some of Canada’s current woes be eased if we considered becoming a member state of the European Union?
