After receiving her Master of Arts, Jaylynn tried working in corporate settings but it never quite worked out. What God had planned for her required her to stand out. She had to be disruptive without limitations. Her artistry skills lead her instantaneously into a career. Within months, she acquired her first celebrity client with a cover of POSE Magazine. During her first year as a makeup artist, she provided makeup services for songstress Lalah Hathaway and BET’s Sunday’s Best finalist Alexis Spight. Other career highlights include a feature on Essence Magazine’s website for top Instagram’s Magic Makeover and an opportunity to glam hip hop's icon Lil' Kim. Jaylynn appeared on Lifetime's Beyond the Spotlight, Season 1 Episode 2 where she worked with celebrity choreographer Laurie Anne Gibson, creative director for Fantasia Barino's tour. Jaylynn also is a two-time ACHI makeup artist of the year nominee.
She had the pleasure to service over 30 brides without collaborating with wedding vendors one year. And with the use of social media and word of mouth, Jaylynn has become one of the top bridal artists on the east coast. Although she lives in Virginia, by 2017 Jaylynn had grown a national bridal clientele near and far - Michigan, Massachusetts, West Virginia, Los Angeles and New York just to name a few.
Due to her high demands in Hampton Roads area, she opened up Rated Pretty Girl Beauty Bar in Virginia Beach allowing her to cater to more clients and to provide the ultimate beauty experience where she integrated her love for fashion by styling her clients, too! One year later, she established a second location in downtown Norfolk, and opened up her Virginia Beach location to other makeup artists to better serve their clients as well. Today, you can find her creative directing brand campaigns, hosting online educational trainings and providing on-location makeup and wardrobe styling services for award winning national recognized business leaders.
It is the goal of Rated Pretty Girl Makeup Artistry brand to empower busy female leaders to grace the stage with style showcasing their confidence to attract their luxury clients and expand their reach all the way to the bank.
