Levítico 25: El año de la restitución y libertad
Levítico 25:8-22:
“Después contarás siete semanas de años, es decir, siete veces siete años, de modo que el tiempo de las siete semanas de años te serán cuarenta y nueve años. Entonces harás resonar la corneta el día diez del mes séptimo. En el día de la Expiación harán resonar la corneta por todo su país. Santificarán el año cincuenta y pregonarán en el país libertad para todos sus habitantes. Este año les será de jubileo; volverán cada uno a la posesión de su tierra, y cada uno de ustedes volverá a su familia. El año cincuenta les será de jubileo; no sembrarán ni segarán lo que de por sí brote en la tierra, y no vendimiarán sus viñedos no cultivados. Porque es jubileo, les será santo, y comerán el producto que la tierra da de sí. En este año de jubileo volverán, cada uno a su posesión. “Si venden algo a su prójimo o compran algo de mano de su prójimo, nadie engañe a su hermano. Conforme al número de años transcurridos después del jubileo, comprarás de tu prójimo; y conforme al número de cosechas anuales, él te venderá a ti. De acuerdo con el mayor número de años, aumentarás su precio de compra; y conforme a la disminución de los años, disminuirás su precio de compra; porque es el número de cosechas lo que él te vende. “Ninguno de ustedes oprima a su prójimo. Más bien, teme a tu Dios, porque yo soy el SEÑOR su Dios. Cumplan, pues, mis estatutos; guarden mis decretos y cúmplanlos, y habitarán en la tierra seguros. La tierra dará su fruto, y comerán hasta saciarse y habitarán en ella con seguridad. “Si preguntan: ‘¿Qué comeremos el séptimo año, puesto que ni hemos de sembrar ni hemos de cosechar nuestros productos?’, entonces yo decretaré para ustedes mi bendición el sexto año, y habrá fruto para tres años. Sembrarán en el octavo año, pero todavía comerán de la cosecha añeja. Hasta que llegue la cosecha del noveno año, seguirán comiendo de la cosecha añeja.

Es muy especial este capítulo porque vemos el orden y el respeto hacia la tierra. Dios mismo tomó acción y ordenó al pueblo dejar descansar la tierra por un año. Cada 7 años.
¡También vemos una fiesta muy especial donde se declara libertad cada 50 años! En ese año las deudas se perdonan, se devuelven las herencias que se vendieron, se liberan los judíos que tuvieron que venderse como esclavos. Se llamó el día del jubileo.
Fue un día fenomenal. Multitudes volvían a la tierra de sus antepasados para recuperar lo perdido, para comenzar de nuevo. Ya no serían más esclavos sujetos a servidumbre sino que tendrían el control y las decisiones de sus vidas. Cualquier tragedia que estaba fuera de su control y que causó la pérdida de sus riquezas, en ese día del jubileo estaba siendo dejada atrás y les fue restituida sus posesiones.
Cualquier decisión errónea que habían cometido por algún impulso o debilidad, en el día del jubileo se les daba una nueva oportunidad de enmendar sus errores, o los de sus padres, y restaurar sus vidas al estado de bendición que habían perdido.
Realmente Dios había establecido leyes para que los israelitas pudieran ser felices y pudieran suplir sus necesidades conforme a la bendición de Dios. Dios creó un sistema económico para que las viudas, los huérfanos y los pobres tuvieran el apoyo constante de los que estaban en mejor posición. Y el sistema de jubileo es un sistema de nuevas oportunidades.
¡Nosotros los cristianos tenemos un jubileo espiritual y se llama Jesucristo! Isaías lo había profetizado en Isaías 61; Jesucristo leyó esta Escritura delante del pueblo en un día de reposo, presentándose como el día de jubileo, donde todo aquel que creyera en Él, tendría liberación sanidad y restauración.
Leamos Lucas 4:17-21: “Y se le dio el libro del profeta Isaías; y habiendo abierto el libro, halló el lugar donde estaba escrito: El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, por cuanto me ha ungido para dar buenas nuevas a los pobres; me ha enviado a sanar a los quebrantados de corazón; a pregonar libertad a los cautivos, y vista a los ciegos; a poner en libertad a los oprimidos; a predicar el año agradable del Señor. Y enrollando el libro, lo dio al ministro, y se sentó; y los ojos de todos en la sinagoga estaban fijos en él. Y comenzó a decirles: Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura delante de vosotros.” (RVR1960).
Eso fue escandaloso para los líderes judíos porque Jesús se estaba atribuyendo la obra de Dios, pero ellos no entendieron que ¡Jesús era el mismo Dios! Pero el resto del pueblo se alegró al saber que ¡Jesucristo era la profecía cumplida y nuestro jubileo espiritual, dándonos el derecho de ser salvos y bendecidos otra vez!

Leviticus 25:8-22:
‘And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of its own accord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine. For it is the Jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat its produce from the field.
‘In this Year of Jubilee, each of you shall return to his possession. And if you sell anything to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor’s hand, you shall not oppress one another. According to the number of years after the Jubilee you shall buy from your neighbor, and according to the number of years of crops he shall sell to you. According to the multitude of years you shall increase its price, and according to the fewer number of years you shall diminish its price; for he sells to you according to the number of the years of the crops. Therefore you shall not oppress one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am the Lord your God.
‘So you shall observe My statutes and keep My judgments, and perform them; and you will dwell in the land in safety. Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill, and dwell there in safety.
‘And if you say, “What shall we eat in the seventh year, since we shall not sow nor gather in our produce?” Then I will command My blessing on you in the sixth year, and it will bring forth produce enough for three years. And you shall sow in the eighth year, and eat old produce until the ninth year; until its produce comes in, you shall eat of the old harvest.

This chapter is very special because we see order and respect for the earth. God Himself took action and ordered the people to let the earth rest for a year. Every 7 years.
We also see a very special party where freedom is declared every 50 years! In that year the debts are forgiven, the inheritances that were sold are returned, the Jews who had to be sold as slaves are freed. It was called the Jubilee day.
It was a phenomenal day. Multitudes returned to the land of their ancestors to recover what was lost, to start anew. They would no longer be slaves subject to servitude, but would have the control and decisions of their lives. Any tragedy that was out of their control and caused the loss of their wealth, on that day of Jubilee would be left behind and their possessions restored to them.
Whatever wrong decisions they had made through some impulse or weakness, on the day of Jubilee they were given a new chance to right their wrongs, or those of their parents, and restore their lives to the blessed state they had lost.
Actually, God had established laws so that the Israelites could be happy and could meet their needs according to God's blessing. God created an economic system so that widows, orphans and the poor would have the constant support of those who were better off. And the Jubilee system is a system of new opportunities.
We Christians have a spiritual Jubilee and it is called Jesus Christ! Isaiah had prophesied it in Isaiah 61; Jesus Christ read this Scripture before the people on a day of rest, presenting Himself as the day of Jubilee, where everyone who believed in Him would have liberation, healing and restoration.
Let's read Luke 4:17-21: “And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
That was scandalous for the Jewish leaders because Jesus was claiming the work of God, but they didn't understand that Jesus was the same God! But the rest of the town rejoiced to learn that Jesus Christ was the fulfilled prophecy and our spiritual Jubilee, giving us the right to be saved and blessed again!

This chapter is very special because we see order and respect for the earth. God Himself took action and ordered the people to let the earth rest for a year. Every 7 years.
We also see a very special party where freedom is declared every 50 years! In that year the debts are forgiven, the inheritances that were sold are returned, the Jews who had to be sold as slaves are freed. It was called the Jubilee day.
It was a phenomenal day. Multitudes returned to the land of their ancestors to recover what was lost, to start anew. They would no longer be slaves subject to servitude, but would have the control and decisions of their lives. Any tragedy that was out of their control and caused the loss of their wealth, on that day of Jubilee would be left behind and their possessions restored to them.
Whatever wrong decisions they had made through some impulse or weakness, on the day of Jubilee they were given a new chance to right their wrongs, or those of their parents, and restore their lives to the blessed state they had lost.
Actually, God had established laws so that the Israelites could be happy and could meet their needs according to God's blessing. God created an economic system so that widows, orphans and the poor would have the constant support of those who were better off. And the Jubilee system is a system of new opportunities.
We Christians have a spiritual Jubilee and it is called Jesus Christ! Isaiah had prophesied it in Isaiah 61; Jesus Christ read this Scripture before the people on a day of rest, presenting Himself as the day of Jubilee, where everyone who believed in Him would have liberation, healing and restoration.
Let's read Luke 4:17-21: “And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
That was scandalous for the Jewish leaders because Jesus was claiming the work of God, but they didn't understand that Jesus was the same God! But the rest of the town rejoiced to learn that Jesus Christ was the fulfilled prophecy and our spiritual Jubilee, giving us the right to be saved and blessed again!
Levítico 25:8-22:
“Después contarás siete semanas de años, es decir, siete veces siete años, de modo que el tiempo de las siete semanas de años te serán cuarenta y nueve años. Entonces harás resonar la corneta el día diez del mes séptimo. En el día de la Expiación harán resonar la corneta por todo su país. Santificarán el año cincuenta y pregonarán en el país libertad para todos sus habitantes. Este año les será de jubileo; volverán cada uno a la posesión de su tierra, y cada uno de ustedes volverá a su familia. El año cincuenta les será de jubileo; no sembrarán ni segarán lo que de por sí brote en la tierra, y no vendimiarán sus viñedos no cultivados. Porque es jubileo, les será santo, y comerán el producto que la tierra da de sí. En este año de jubileo volverán, cada uno a su posesión. “Si venden algo a su prójimo o compran algo de mano de su prójimo, nadie engañe a su hermano. Conforme al número de años transcurridos después del jubileo, comprarás de tu prójimo; y conforme al número de cosechas anuales, él te venderá a ti. De acuerdo con el mayor número de años, aumentarás su precio de compra; y conforme a la disminución de los años, disminuirás su precio de compra; porque es el número de cosechas lo que él te vende. “Ninguno de ustedes oprima a su prójimo. Más bien, teme a tu Dios, porque yo soy el SEÑOR su Dios. Cumplan, pues, mis estatutos; guarden mis decretos y cúmplanlos, y habitarán en la tierra seguros. La tierra dará su fruto, y comerán hasta saciarse y habitarán en ella con seguridad. “Si preguntan: ‘¿Qué comeremos el séptimo año, puesto que ni hemos de sembrar ni hemos de cosechar nuestros productos?’, entonces yo decretaré para ustedes mi bendición el sexto año, y habrá fruto para tres años. Sembrarán en el octavo año, pero todavía comerán de la cosecha añeja. Hasta que llegue la cosecha del noveno año, seguirán comiendo de la cosecha añeja.

Es muy especial este capítulo porque vemos el orden y el respeto hacia la tierra. Dios mismo tomó acción y ordenó al pueblo dejar descansar la tierra por un año. Cada 7 años.
¡También vemos una fiesta muy especial donde se declara libertad cada 50 años! En ese año las deudas se perdonan, se devuelven las herencias que se vendieron, se liberan los judíos que tuvieron que venderse como esclavos. Se llamó el día del jubileo.
Fue un día fenomenal. Multitudes volvían a la tierra de sus antepasados para recuperar lo perdido, para comenzar de nuevo. Ya no serían más esclavos sujetos a servidumbre sino que tendrían el control y las decisiones de sus vidas. Cualquier tragedia que estaba fuera de su control y que causó la pérdida de sus riquezas, en ese día del jubileo estaba siendo dejada atrás y les fue restituida sus posesiones.
Cualquier decisión errónea que habían cometido por algún impulso o debilidad, en el día del jubileo se les daba una nueva oportunidad de enmendar sus errores, o los de sus padres, y restaurar sus vidas al estado de bendición que habían perdido.
Realmente Dios había establecido leyes para que los israelitas pudieran ser felices y pudieran suplir sus necesidades conforme a la bendición de Dios. Dios creó un sistema económico para que las viudas, los huérfanos y los pobres tuvieran el apoyo constante de los que estaban en mejor posición. Y el sistema de jubileo es un sistema de nuevas oportunidades.
¡Nosotros los cristianos tenemos un jubileo espiritual y se llama Jesucristo! Isaías lo había profetizado en Isaías 61; Jesucristo leyó esta Escritura delante del pueblo en un día de reposo, presentándose como el día de jubileo, donde todo aquel que creyera en Él, tendría liberación sanidad y restauración.
Leamos Lucas 4:17-21: “Y se le dio el libro del profeta Isaías; y habiendo abierto el libro, halló el lugar donde estaba escrito: El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, por cuanto me ha ungido para dar buenas nuevas a los pobres; me ha enviado a sanar a los quebrantados de corazón; a pregonar libertad a los cautivos, y vista a los ciegos; a poner en libertad a los oprimidos; a predicar el año agradable del Señor. Y enrollando el libro, lo dio al ministro, y se sentó; y los ojos de todos en la sinagoga estaban fijos en él. Y comenzó a decirles: Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura delante de vosotros.” (RVR1960).
Eso fue escandaloso para los líderes judíos porque Jesús se estaba atribuyendo la obra de Dios, pero ellos no entendieron que ¡Jesús era el mismo Dios! Pero el resto del pueblo se alegró al saber que ¡Jesucristo era la profecía cumplida y nuestro jubileo espiritual, dándonos el derecho de ser salvos y bendecidos otra vez!

Leviticus 25: The year of restitution and freedom.
Leviticus 25:8-22:
‘And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of its own accord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine. For it is the Jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat its produce from the field.
‘In this Year of Jubilee, each of you shall return to his possession. And if you sell anything to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor’s hand, you shall not oppress one another. According to the number of years after the Jubilee you shall buy from your neighbor, and according to the number of years of crops he shall sell to you. According to the multitude of years you shall increase its price, and according to the fewer number of years you shall diminish its price; for he sells to you according to the number of the years of the crops. ‘So you shall observe My statutes and keep My judgments, and perform them; and you will dwell in the land in safety. Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill, and dwell there in safety.
