* When God gives us blessings, He wraps boundaries around them.
* Our first two blessings - Authority & Ability:
* * Authority over the Garden - boundary was the trees.
* * Ability to create - boundary was marriage.
* Satan attacks our boundaries so he can rob us of our blessing.
* Boundaries aren’t meant to keep you from good things - they are meant to keep bad things from you.
* Boundaries:
* 1) Give you freedom.
* 2) Give you control.
* 3) Protect your blessings.
* EX: Rocky w/the invisible fence.
* Vs 18:1-5 - God had to outline boundaries around sex. Why?
* Because Satan attacks our boundaries to keep us from our blessing.
* Purpose of sex is intimacy.
* Product of sex is life.
* This is why God made it pleasurable.
* If the pleasure overtakes the purpose we forfeit the product.
* ** This chapter isn’t just about sex, but about boundaries!
* You need better boundaries if:
* 1) You aren’t experiencing freedom.
* 2) You feel out of control.
* 3) Your blessings have become curses (Eve w/birth, Adam w/work).
* What do you do? ESTABLISH & ENFORCE!
* Establish Boundaries:
* 1) Prioritize your time, tasks, relationships.
* 2) Say “no” to anything that disrupts.
* 3) Refuse to feel guilty.
* Enforce Boundaries:
* 1) Bring someone in.
* 2) Give an account (weekly).
* Steven Reigns, a licensed marriage and family therapist - “Sometimes assertiveness isn’t needed for boundary setting as much as personal tolerance for being uncomfortable.”
