Lex de Man was a Detective Sergeant on Operation Forest Taskforce, a team of VicPol operatives who investigated the abhorrent crimes that Australia's most notorious cult leader, Anne Hamilton-Byrne committed upon the children of 'The Family'.

The Family, headed by nefarious cult leader, Anne Hamilton-Byrne resided in Lake Eildon, Victoria, where children were cruelly taken from their mothers, subjected to terrible physical and mental abuse and regularly dosed on the psychedelic drug, LSD. Lex was part of a team tasked with investigating the crimes that Anne Hamilton-Byrne was responsible for and would even end up chasing her overseas in a pursuit of justice.
