LGBTQ: Separating Truth From Lies -S2E11

Listen Later

I sat in my dorm room as the cackles in the next room grew. I wanted to disappear. I never wanted to show my face again. My roommates hated me and now they were having a dish session about me, with me sitting right there. I was embarrassed and deeply hurt.

Being bullied is never fun. It never feels good for people to treat you poorly, simply because of who you are. This week, I will hip you to some truths about the LGBTQ community. I don't believe that people intentionally set out to hurt other people, but they do so because of wrong information. This episode is about clearing up misconceptions so that we don't hurt other people with our lack of knowledge and understanding.

Get ready to listen in! I make no claims to be an expert on the topic, but I want to create a space for everyone to feel safe, heard, and welcomed! I hope that this episode opens the door to deeper conversations based around truth and not assumptions about people who may not be exactly like us.

We all know what it's like, right? To talk to somebody who really tries to understand us for who we truly are. That moment when we finally feel valued and seen. Its an extremely validating experience. May each of us open our hearts, to let our brothers and sisters in with love. Here are 5 things that you need to know about the LGBTQ family!
