花间一壶酒 独酌无相亲
举杯邀明月 对影成三人

Amid the flowers,from a pot of wine
I drink alonebeneath the bright moonshine,
I raise my cupto invite the Moon who blends
Her light with my Shadowand we’re three friends.

月既不解饮 影徒随我身
暂伴月将影 行乐须及春

The Moon does not knowhow to drink her share;
In vain my Shadow follows mehere and there.
Together with themfor the time I stay
And make merrybefore spring’s spent away.

我歌月徘徊 我舞影零乱
醒时同交欢 醉后各分散永结无情游 相期邈云汉

I sing and the Moon lingersto hear my song;
My Shadow’s a messwhile I dance along.
Sober,we three remain cheerful and gay;
Drunken,we part and each may go his way.

Our friendship will outshineall earthly love,
next time we’ll meet beyond the stars above.
