The primary teacher's union says it will keep striking until teachers get what they want.
50,000 NZEI members will stop work in two weeks for a full day, the first teacher's strike in 24 years.
They want a 16% pay rise over two years and other improvements to their conditions and resourcing.
NZEI teachers lead negotiator Liam Rutherford told Mike Hosking the ballot result was overwhelmingly in favour.
"Teachers will carry on negotiating and taking action until they get an offer which will do the job."
