Lidl vs AliExpress LED candle teardown

Listen Later

A look inside some of the more recent LED candles with a more realistic colour and flame effect.

Compared to the first LED candles that were often sodium yellow and flickered violently, these ones are much more subtle, and gently undulate the intensity of the warm white LED.

The LIDL version has the most rugged construction, but the AliExpress white candle has the advantage of using AA cells instead of the AAA cells used in the others.

The LIDL version had the internal aluminium core and plastic end sleeved in white heatshrink. Probably to make the wax coating look brighter. The switch at the base was integrated into the housing and not a standard switch.

Here's a link to the AliExpress (not a sponsor) white candle:-

And the black candles - noting that they are the warm white flame option:-

As always, shop about and don't be disappointed if the one you get is the older flickering yellow style.
