Life After the Impact #78: A LIVE Conversation with Pastor Carl Soto about Police Brutality

Listen Later

On November 19, Life After the Impact had a critical conversation with Pastor Carl Soto, a dedicated activist and community leader, following the recent brutalization he suffered at the hands of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Pastor Soto, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Restoration Inc., was unjustly targeted by Deputy Alex Almaguer, who falsely charged him with resisting arrest after a violent encounter.

On August 29, 2024, while en route to pick up his children, Pastor Soto was followed for three miles before being pulled over. Despite informing the deputy about his recent back surgery and need for a medically prescribed walker, Soto was met with aggression. Deputy Almaguer escalated the situation, pulling Soto from his vehicle and brutally assaulting him, exacerbating his existing injuries and causing new ones.

The aftermath of this incident has not only left Pastor Soto physically harmed but has ignited a rallying cry for justice within the community. A press conference held shortly after the incident saw dozens of community members demanding accountability and support for Soto and his family.

As a legal expert, husband, father of six, and an ordained minister, Pastor Soto brings a unique perspective on the intersection of faith, justice, and community activism. He is also the vice president of Black Lives Matter Restoration Inc. and an executive member of the Lion of Judah Armed Forces. His personal connection to police brutality, stemming from the tragic loss of his younger brother, Ruben Debrosse, further fuels his advocacy.

Don't miss this important discussion to learn about the ongoing impact of systemic violence, the need for community solidarity, and the path forward for healing and justice.
