John’s mission is to help others take radical ownership for every element of their lives. He is passionate and driven for cultural change for students and wherever people desire to do better than yesterday.
He is the Founder and President of Life that Counts, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which has helped bring in more than $1,250,000 in funding for Positive Youth Development Solutions in it’s less than two-year-old existence.
He is the author of Rules4Success, developer of the B.E.L.I.E.V.E. curriculum for peer-based mentoring, and is the creator of the HERO Training 21 Day Compassion Challenge.
He’s delivered over 1,200 keynotes, workshops, and breakouts, and he gives around 150 assembly talks per school year for audiences of students and educational professionals. He speaks, trains, and consults on overcoming adversity, youth culture, effective leadership, and positive youth cultural development. He is a graduate of Birmingham Southern with work on Youth Culture and holds undergraduate degrees in Theology and Communications and has Master level training in Business Administration.
Having grown up in an environment of poverty, violence, and substance abuse, and never having met his father, John contends that there is hope for the individual and the organization that is willing to invest the time and energy to create remarkable outcomes. He believes that our future work must address the need in creating global leaders, in all sectors of human exchange, who are competent in IQ (Intellectual Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient), SQ (Social Quotient), and CQ (Cultural Quotient).
John’s dream in life, early on, was for his wife to know, be loved by, cared for, protected, and supported by her husband. He aims for the same with his children. As Alexis’ husband of 15 years and dad to two boys, Jayden and Joshua, John is getting to live his dream.
