LIFE COLLEGE WEEK 25 and 26 – COVENANTS 2
THE NEW GENERATION
 HEBREWS CHAPTER 8
Studying the Covenants of scripture is not a way of building a Covenant Theology but rather a way of increasing our understanding of how God _______________________ Himself towards His people. He presents different aspects of His personality to different historical situations and eras. The presentation of His personality to restore the balance of our relationship with Him is called grace.
The laws and covenants, since the time God made man, were and are still about a relationship that would bring life. (John 17:3). Certain spiritual laws needed to be adhered to in order to maintain the ___________________________ of the relationship between the divine and the physical.
IMBALANCE: THE ERA OF DECEPTION
In many instances, the bible refers to the ‘era of man – first Adam’ as the period of _______________________. The physical steward of the relationship, man, was tricked and deceived so that the balance of the relationship was disrupted.
So the great dragon was thrown down once and for all. He was the serpent, the ancient snake called the devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole earth. He was cast down into the earth and his angels along with him.  Revelation 12:9 TPT
So began the wrestle with spiritual divine balance.
In the midst of this era of confusion, humans should have realized that God blesses human beings—nations, families, or individuals—to the degree that they choose to live by God’s basic spiritual covenants and that if they stand outside of the covenants that truthfully outline their behavior, they will fall prey to the deception and darkness of disobedience.
Jesus demonstrated the ability of man to remain in balance AND irradicated the consequence of humanity’s broken relationship with God. No other sacrifice had ever been able to do both!
And keep in mind that our Lord’s extraordinary patience simply means more opportunity for salvation, just as our dear brother Paul wrote to you with the wisdom that God gave him. He consistently speaks of these things in all of his letters, even though he writes some concepts that are overwhelming to our understanding, which the unlearned and unstable love to twist to their spiritual ruin, as they do to other Scriptures.
2 Peter 3:15-16 TPT
IMBALANCE: THE FOUNDATION LAW (OLD TESTAMENT)
The imbalance of deception reached such a _____________________ crescendo that God had to destroy the world in flood and save only those who had not yet completely severed their relationship with God (“sinned”).
Mankind got so out of balance that they had forgotten the basic spiritual and relational constraints that kept the physical in balance with the divine. He gave Noah, Abraham, and the Israelites, through Moses, not laws but spiritual principles (ten of them to start) that would, in their now imperfect state and at the very least, keep the connection alive.
Later, religious practices would be developed to help the people hold to these spiritual principles (Levitical law). These practices, just like today, should not be  confused with the spiritual principles of our divine relationship.
Sin is not about practice but about participation.
It is not about doing everything right; it’s about allowing Jesus to see you as righteous – good enough to have a life-giving relationship.
Sin is losing sight of the things that keep us in a relationship with the Divine.
God was not just laying out a set of laws for His ____________________ people, He was demonstrating His desire to set aside (make Holy) an elite group of people that would win ALL nations back to Him. With all their faults and issues, He made it possible to establish a pathway (Matthew 1) for a system that would establish His Kingdom permanently, and all people would know of HIm and be given the opportunity to choose light.
But now Jesus the Messiah has accepted a priestly ministry which far sur
