Leaving the home that you know can be scary and the fear of the unknown can be paralyzing. 

Removing children from the home that they know can allow guilt to prevail.

Going to a domestic violence shelter can be one of the scariest moves that a victim makes but understanding that a shelter is there to help a "victim" gain independence, mobility, calm in one's life and overall SAFETY. 

If you are in an abusive situation, research resources in your community and call them to find out what they have available that can help you be in a better place in life.
