In this episode of Life in Quarters, co-hosts Emma and Becca are feeling frustrated with the world. While both hosts are perpetual optimists and participants in hustle culture, they have recently noticed that reasonable goals are becoming ever more unattainable and hustle culture is being presented as the cure to a failing system. Becca focuses on how ridiculous it feels that everyone is now expected to be exceptional to the point of exhaustion and work three jobs to even dream of being able to afford a single family home. While Emma locks in on the feeling that if you’re not doing everything, you’re not doing anything at all and how that feeling completely cancels out the human elements of growth as we work towards our goals. Stay tuned for a cathartic chat where both hosts talk about how working ourselves to death has become the bare minimum, how frustrating it is to feel that we will never be able to reach this moving goal post, how their best feels like it will never be good enough, and what they do in the wake of that frustration.

Welcome to the season 2 premier of Life in Quarters!! 

In this episode, co-hosts Emma and Becca celebrate turning 29 by doing a look back on the last decade, giving them the opportunity to celebrate their 20’s while they’re still in them. Both hosts were struck by the fact that this year truly feels like a victory lap and wanted to dive into what made their 20’s so special and why they both feel so grounded as they come to a close. Becca’s 20’s were deeply shaped by her long distance relationship, she faced hard decisions about careers and love and is looking forward to moving into a slower season of her life. While Emma’s 20’s were shaped by her mental health, she faced the struggles of self abandonment and learning to be her own advocate and is excited to continue to take up more space in her 30’s.
