LOVE Each Other

John 15:12–13

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

1. The model of love Jesus gives.

“Jesus didn’t love in general. He loved in particular.” ~John Ortberg

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

2. The meaning of laying down our life.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God…humbled himself, becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross.

(Philippians 2:5-8)

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

(John 15:11)

3. The mission of love.

You are my friends if you do what I command.

(John 15:14)

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
