In this conversation with Kara Houser, we follow her life, much of which
occurs in rural Eastern Washington. We follow her as she is diagnosed with a malignant tumor at less than a year old and the permanent damage that did to her nervous system and her gait. We hear how she overcame a diagnosis that she wouldn't walk after 5 years old. Here she is, walking still at 40. She talks of the tough love of a mother and the comfort of a father and the drive and expectations to succeed in life regardless of physical limitations.
She shares some great wisdom garnered from thousands of books that she has read and really experienced and tried to internalize them.
At the end of this episode, in the "In Their Own Words" portion, is an entertaining story of Kara's grandfather, Kieth Howard Dixon, and his experience getting wounded in action in World War II. This story is special as it is about Kara's ancestor and read in her voice.
Sit back and enjoy this extraordinary life experience.
