Author, speaker and television host, Shannon Perry, garnered the Bronze Medal in the Christian Living category from the Readers’ Favorite International Book Award Contest for her third book, “Stand: Staying Balanced with Answers for Real Teen Life.”

1) Your book STAND: STAYING BALANCED WITH ANSWERS FOR REAL TEEN LIFE just won a Reader's Favorite Award. I understand you actually had ten teenage girls help with the contents of this book. Talk about that process.

3) One of the important things you stress in the book is how girls communicate with their peers.  Why do you think this is so important?

 

4) You address sex, rape, gender identity and purity in the book. Do you believe that purity is still a goal of teen girls today? Why or why not? 

5) This book as well as your book for parents, THE OVERLOOKED GENERATION, stem from a new mother/daughter conference that you teach. Tell us about that.  

Perry wrote “Stand: Staying Balanced with Answers for Real Teen Life” after meeting with ten teen and tween girls in her home for over two months. The book delves into several difficult issues such as date rape, gender identity, bullying, suicide, cutting, drugs, and pre-marital sex, just to name a few. “Stand” also serves as an informational resource for Perry’s mother/teen daughter conference entitled In Her Shoes. Perry holds a Master’s Degree in Education and Counseling, and is a Certified Instructor in Parenting Classes and Crisis Counseling.
