Welcome back, folks! After an unplanned but much-needed break, Season 5 of Life of Fiction is finally here—and let me tell you, I’m fired up.
Why?
Because I’ve decided that 2025 is going to be all about PLAY.
No more obsessing over a rigid publishing schedule. No more treating creativity like a factory assembly line. Nope. This year, it’s about having fun—and I want you right there with me.
Here’s what you need to know about this episode:
Where have I been? I took December off (shocking, I know) to focus on family, and it changed everything about how I approach my work.
The Big Revelation – I realized my obsession with "sticking to the schedule" was strangling the joy out of creating. Not anymore.
New Year, New Focus – This season is all about enjoying the process, connecting with YOU, and letting the fun dictate the content.
Community-Powered Creativity – I asked myself, "If I could do any project just for fun, what would it be?" Answer: Make a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) based on Wanted Hero.
Introducing: The Hero Within – A brand-new RPG set in the Wanted Hero universe, where you step into the role of a hero (because playing the villain isn’t an option).
But here’s the FUN part… I don’t want to just make the game—I want to build it with you.
Open Development – The entire creation process will be public on Life of Fiction. You’ll see the progress, contribute ideas, and maybe even playtest the game.
Key Questions for You – What kind of stories do you want to explore? How should combat, character development, and moral choices shape the game? Let’s figure it out together. If you want to read the original article I posted for the community, here’s the link:

A Sneak Peek – I’ve already got a name, a basic premise, and a mountain of world-building notes to fuel this adventure. Now, it’s time to bring it to life.
How to Join the Fun – Go to lifeoffiction.com and subscribe. It's free, and you’ll get to help shape this project from the ground up.
So, if you love storytelling, role-playing games, or just being part of a creative movement, now is your chance.
Come play with me.
Remember: You are MORE than you THINK you are!...see you next time. 🚀

In this episode I’m inviting you to rethink how we approach constraints.
Often, we see limitations as obstacles, but what if they were the very thing that fuels our best work? I’ll walk you through some powerful historical examples, like how Hemingway crafted his minimalist writing style, how Picasso’s Blue Period came to life during his financial struggles, and even how the Apollo 13 mission’s survival depended on innovation under extreme limitations.
I’ll also share stories of modern creators—like filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, who made a groundbreaking movie on a shoestring budget, and Billie Eilish, who turned her home recording into chart-topping music—all proving that limitations can be the spark we need to create something extraordinary.
This episode is for anyone who’s ever felt like they don’t have the right tools, resources, or opportunities.
I’m here to show you that those very limitations might be what unlocks your greatest creative potential. I’ll share personal insights, practical examples, and a fun challenge to help you turn constraints into creative fuel.

In this episode of Life of Fiction, Jaime Buckley dives deep into a question from Ethan, a 16-year-old photographer from Seattle, who’s been feeling overwhelmed by the desire to get the best camera gear.
Ethan’s question sparks a conversation on an important creative topic—how to develop skills without relying on expensive tools.
Jaime explores how creativity and mastery are rooted not in the latest gadgets but in refining foundational skills. Whether you're a writer, artist, or photographer, this episode highlights the power of practice, curiosity, and continuous learning. With examples from history and personal insights, Jaime emphasizes that the real magic lies in your ability to see, think, and create, not in the equipment you use.
Key takeaways include:
• The importance of mastering core skills like composition, color theory, and narrative structure.
• Practical exercises for skill enhancement, including writing prompts and art challenges.
Jaime also challenges listeners to embrace limitations and find joy in the creative process. After all, creativity isn't about having the best gear—it's about what you do with the tools you have. Tune in for valuable insights on honing your craft, regardless of the equipment at your disposal.
