On July 4th, Nolan Xavier Wells went to Horn Island, Mississippi, with three friends to celebrate the holiday. He never came home. His body was found two days later, facedown in the water. His phone and car keys were returned by his friends. His body was not.

Now, more than two weeks later, his mother Christine Wonsley buried her son today with no answers about how he died.

💔 A MOTHER'S FIGHT FOR THE TRUTH

Nolan was an 18-year-old wide receiver at Southwest Mississippi Community College. He was a three-sport athlete. A "happy-go-lucky kid." A son who made salmon dinner for his family the night before he disappeared. A young man who dreamed of becoming a doctor and having three daughters—Sophia, Charlotte, and Olivia.

His mother says he knew how to swim. His father says he would never choose to stay behind on a remote island alone. But the friends who left him there say he chose to stay. A young woman on the island says he told her he was going back with his friends.

Two different stories. One dead Black boy. And a family left waiting.

⚖️ THE INVESTIGATION – AND THE QUESTIONS

The Jackson County Sheriff says there's no sign of foul play. But there's no official cause of death either. Autopsy results are still pending. The FBI is now assisting. Ben Crump is representing the family. Colin Kaepernick is helping fund an independent autopsy.

And while this family grieved, someone mailed them hate mail—a photo of them with arrows and dollar signs drawn on it. The FBI is now investigating threats.

🕯️ WHAT IF THE NATION'S MOST PRESTIGIOUS MUSEUM WAS HIDING YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S BONES?

For over a century, the Smithsonian Institution has sat on a secret so dark, so grotesque, and so deeply dehumanizing that it would make your blood run cold. Tucked away in storage facilities in suburban Maryland are the remains of 30,700 human beings—bones, skulls, teeth, and 255 human brains—most of them stolen from Black and Indigenous people without consent. Stolen from graveyards. Stolen from hospitals. Stolen from grieving families who had no idea their ancestors were being treated like specimens in a racist experiment.

💀 THE MAN BEHIND THE MACABRE COLLECTION

His name was Aleš Hrdlička, and for 40 years, he ran the Smithsonian's physical anthropology division with one mission: to prove that white people were superior to everyone else. He was a white supremacist, a eugenicist, and a grave robber with a government salary. He paid children dimes to dig up Indigenous graves in Alaska. He scavenged morgues in Washington, D.C., targeting Black families who were too poor to fight back. He called it his "racial brain collection." He was proud of it. And the Smithsonian let him do it.

📜 THE UNCOVERING

In 2022, a copy aide at the Washington Post pulled a single thread—an Instagram post about a Filipino woman who died at the 1904 World's Fair. That thread unraveled the largest investigation into the Smithsonian's human remains collection in history. The investigation revealed that Black Americans were the largest racial group targeted within the United States. It revealed that the Smithsonian had repatriated only FOUR of those 255 brains. And it forced an apology that came more than a century too late.

⚖️ THE APOLOGY—TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE?

In August 2023, Smithsonian Secretary Lonnie Bunch apologized, calling Hrdlička's work "abhorrent and dehumanizing." He created a task force to fix the problem. Their recommendation? Return the remains by 2030. Years from now. Years of our ancestors still sitting on shelves. Years of families still not knowing.

⚖️ Judge James Gosnell Jr.: The Judge Who Sat in Judgment and Became the Accused | Life Points with Ronda

🚨 A judge. A man who sat on the bench for nearly three decades. A man who presided over bond hearings, made decisions about people's freedom, and was trusted by his community to uphold the law.

💻 And behind closed doors, he was doing something so evil, so depraved, that even the prosecutors who have seen it all were shocked.

👨‍⚖️ James Benjamin Gosnell Jr. was a Charleston County magistrate judge for 29 years. He was 69 years old. He was a scout leader. He was a church member. He was trusted.

📱 On July 2, 2026, he pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing thousands of files of child sexual abuse material. The files showed infants and toddlers being raped, tortured, and murdered. He made plans to travel to Florida to rape and kill an infant. He abused children in his own neighborhood.

💔 The U.S. Attorney said: "The depths of the darkness revealed in Gosnell's electronics and messages to his co-conspirator serve as a reminder that evil walks among us, often hiding in plain sight, him being a judge sitting on the bench".

🚨 He faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison.
