Lifetime
By
Black Pearl
Time grants no pause for woman, child, or man,
A driver on a road we cannot steer.
We do but all we can, and all we can
It lives until the final page is clear.
Our borrowed homes, our plans not ours to keep,
They are signed away by their ancestors' faint call.
While shadows gather, we are lulled to sleep,
As seasons change from blooming spring to fall.
So smile away the sorrows you have known,
For life is strange, a funny, brief exchange.
A mystery in which our seeds are sown,
Beyond the sky, where silent spirits range.
Then when your fading spirit starts to climb,
You must not fight this lifetime; just bow, in time.
