Osher Günsberg is one of the most recognisable faces on Australian TV, with hosting duties that have included Australian Idol, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchise, along with the smash hit, The Masked Singer.

His path to celebrity was anything but an overnight success though. Osher talks about the early days, having to change his name (Andrew G) so it was more palatable for his radio audience at the time and on what it takes to have longevity in the very competitive entertainment industry.

He’s written a book, performed a stage show and has a very successful podcast, ‘Better Than Yesterday’, where he opens up on his battle with mental ill health. He is a constant inspiration for many people battling similar demons.

Happily married with a newborn baby, Osher will be a constant on our TV screens for many years to come, because in his own words, he’s “got a mortgage and school fees to pay”!

Jack Post or Cacklin' Jack as he is affectionately known had humble begins on community radio, before a chance encounter with Hamish and Andy led him to a dream run that currently includes not only the number 1 breakfast radio show in Melbourne, The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show, but also the number 1 podcast in Australia, Hamish and Andy.

He often wears the brunt of the jokes, but Jack is much more than just the button pusher.

Jack is also a talented musician and forms part of the duo, Release the Sounds and has recently launched his own podcast, Jacky Road Studios.

Jack dishes the dirt on Hamish and Andy (who's his favourite??) praises Christian, but does he get the credit he deserves?

I was also fortunate enough to work alongside Jack and the Christian O'Connell team when I directed the Heroes Gold beer commercial that raised money for the true bushfire heroes.

But Gus had a unique start to his tv and media career, where he suddenly went from selling Toshiba laptops in Scotland to starring in the Aussie Goes Barmy TV series.

He is also lifelong best friends with Hugh Jackman.

But it’s his work on Gotcha 4 Life where Gus has truly made his mark on mental health and suicide prevention through connection and awareness.

It's been 20 years since i've seen this week's guest - Mark Philip.

Mark and I attended the New York Film Academy in 1999 in New York and it was one of the best experience of my life. So after a 20 year gap, to be able to visit his hometown of Marblehead (near Boston) and spend a couple of days getting to know each other's families was really special. 

We pick up where we left off and fill in the blanks. Mark is a very successful VP/Group Creative Director at Digitas North America where is has worked on many award winning campaigns for Gatorade, LG, Royal Caribbean and most recently the amazing JFK: Moonshot, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing.

This week’s guest on lifting the lid is Hugh Jellie - the very passionate Marketing & Sponsorship Manager for Victoria Bitter (VB).

The only thing that rivals Hugh's passion for VB is sport, so he's lucky enough to be working in a role that allows him to to enjoy both. 

But Hugh didn't take the traditional path to his role at VB, having starting out as a finance analyst at Ford, before creating and starring in The Hockey Show for Ch31. It's a fascinating story, mixed with many celeb sport encounters and a lifetime supply of free beer.

But above all, Hugh is a great guy and family man (check out his #JellieBaby camping adventures) who I've been fortunate enough to work with.

This week’s guest on lifting the lid is Chris Orr - the co-owner of one of the largest sports management companies in Australia, Pacific Sports Management. 

A schoolboy star, Chris enjoyed a successful career in the ARL/NRL before retiring relatively early to start his own management company with his brother Gavin.

We talk all things footy including the set backs, club hopping, finding a home on the Gold Coast and transitioning from player to manager. This involved a different approach at the time that concentrated on taking on the youth of the game – signing such players as Greg Bird and Nate Myles as 15 year olds.

We also discuss the challenges in business of dealing with the different personalities, club negotiations, the media and how the entrepreneurial spirit runs in the Orr family.

Chris opens up on the Jason Taumalolo and Daly Cherry-Evans first of their kind long-term contracts. How the relationship between player and agent is the most important aspect of sports management - one that goes beyond their playing days as he cites in examples including Nate Myles, Brenton Lawrence, Kevin Campion and Ashley Harrison.

We also delve a bit deeper into working with family and the ongoing battle to creating a happy work/life balance and how having support from good people and the courage to go after your dreams is the key to living life on your terms.

The future looks bright for PSM as they look to expand beyond management into events, combines, and the American market.

Troy and Zara Swindells-Grose are the directors of Humour Australia. They travel the world as performance coaches and keynote speakers helping people to harness their G.S.O.H (Good Sense of Humour). 

They’ve shared the stage and microphone with the likes of Sir Richard Branson, The Black Eyed Peas, Heath Ledger, Destiny’s Child and Chris Rock to name a few and have performed to a collective audience of more than 10 Million people.

But it wasn’t all beer and skittles. Even though they achieved success in a previous life on breakfast radio, they were miserable. They needed a change and they wanted to help others who might be in a similar situation. This was the genesis for Humour Australia.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Ken Sutcliffe, the male model from Mudgee on this week’s episode.

In a career spanning 50 years, Ken is a legend in TV sports broadcasting.

We discuss his early days in radio at 2MG Mudgee and the leap of faith that led him to Channel 9.

Ken opens up on working alongside the King of TV, Graham Kennedy, Max Walker, what Kerry Packer was really like and the intriguing fact behind the Wired World of Sport II album with Billy Birmingham.

We also talk taking on challenges along with the dedication and sacrifices needed to have a successful career in television.

Ken reflects on his time covering some of the greatest sporting events and athletes in the world including:

Tennis: Federer and Nadal at Wimbledon, Ken Rosewall.

Golf: Greg Norman, Adam Scott and witnessing Tiger Woods win his first major at the US Masters.

Olympics: The unrivalled talent and charisma of Carl Lewis and Usain Bolt.

This also meant a lot to me personally as I did work experience with Ken at Channel 9 while I was at school and that decision changed the course of my life.
